UMCR will be forming a Career Transition Ministry to be a resource in helpin people who are looking for a job. We envision this as an extension of our church's natural tendency to help people by: giving advice about an industry or area of expertise, providing a sympathetic ear, constructive feedback, thoughts on interviewing, resumes, resources, and putting them on our prayer list
Our first introductory monthly meeting will be held from 6-7pm this Sunday evening, January 10th, inthe UMCR Fellowship Hall. Everyone is welcome.
Would you like another opportunity to put your Faith in Action? Do you feel called to help and contribute toward a mission project close to home?
The people of the UMCs of our Southeast District are helping with the process of physically rebuilding a United Methodist Church in Sharon Hill, PA. Handy people and trade people of all types are needed, including roofers, painters, drywall experts, carpenters, electricians, and geneal workers. If YOU can help, contact Mark Beideman at 610-857-9014.
There are two areas of our mission as a Family of God where we need help immediately.
Our faithful group of people who volunteer the fouth Saturday of each month to work as Good Neighbors to make homes safer, warmer and drier for disadvantaged people in our area has started on another home. In order to keep these people well-fed, we need a person each month to provide lunch to be taken at about noon to the job site. The lunch can consist of your choice of menu, but should be something that can be eaten easily (sandwiches or soup, a simple one-dish entree, drinks, a dessert, paper products). There is a sign-up sheet in the narthex on the Missions board.
Help is needed in the Nursery. We need a dedicated group who will commit one Sunday a month to provde this care. Without these people, we cannot provide this necessary service. We still need someone to volunteer to cover the 3rd or 4th Sunday of each month. You can also sign up as a substitute if you are unable to commit to the same Sunday every month. There is a signup sheet in the Narthex
In order for UMCR to offer God the best Sunday worship possible, we need everyone to be involved. We need volunteers to help with
We need a coordinator for the coffee time from September through May. The "job" involves replenishing coffee, juice, and supplies duing the month and checking to see if someone has volunteered to make coffee and bring refreshments for the coming week. Please contact Diana if you would like to help.
A basket in the Narthex is available to collect the applicable items.
A blue bin is in the narthex for new/used medical equipment & supplies...crutches, walkers, wheelchairs, canes, bandages, etc, to be shipped to Ukraine. So, if you are cleaning house anytime and come across a pair of cruthes....don't throw them out (even if the rubber tips are bad).... please give to this mission.
By now, some of you have heard about prayer shawls being blessed by Joan. We are starting a Prayer Shawl Ministry here at UMCR. This is not a new concept. It has become a mission of various faiths. Shawls are given to people in distress, people who mourn, people who relocate, for a new baby, for a graduate, for newlyweds, etc. We would like everyone to become involved w/ this ministry. Here is how you can help:
Teresa Sassaman has a Prayer Shawl Ministry book w/patterns. The shawls are very easy to make. If you have any questions please feel free to contact her. She would be glad to show anyone the basics of crochet if they would like to learn.

Our Church has launched a fundraising project with the help of inkjet recycling company
Empties4Cash. Empty inkjet cartridges can be recycled and remanufactured.
Our church will receive up to $4.00 for each cartridge turned in. This will directly benefit our church and it is great for the environment!
You can help! Any inkjet cartridge with a print head can be recycled,
regardless of brand or type. Do you have an HP, Lexmark, Xerox, Compaq, Brother, Dell, Canon or Apple
printer? Bring in your empty OEM inkjet cartridges (placed in the original box or ziploc bag, to keep
it safe from spills and damages) to the church. There will be an empty box in the narthex where you
can leave them.
NOTE: Canon BCI or Epson cartridges cannot be recycled - they don't have a print head.
