We will follow the Downingtown School District's school closings due to snow. If Downingtown School District closes for the day, we will also be closed for the day. If Downingtown opens on a two-hour delay, our preschool morning classes will attend from 11:00 am until 12:30 pm. Kindergarten morning classes attend from 10:45am until 12:45pm. 3 Day Plus morning classes attend from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Tuesday and Wednesday only. The afternoon preschool session will begin at 1:30 pm and dismiss at 3:00pm. Kindergarten afternoon session will begin at 1:30pm and dismiss at 3:30 pm. 3 Day Plus afternoon classes will begin at 1:30 pm and dismiss at 3:30 pm on Tuesday and Wednesday only. If Downingtown opens on a one hour delay, our preschool and Kindergarten morning classes will begin one hour later than their regular start time; dismissal times are unchanged. Our afternoon classes will be unaffected. If Downingtown announces an early dismissal due to the weather, we will follow the elementary school dismissal time. If the dismissal is announced prior to the beginning of our afternoon session, that session is cancelled. In the event of an unusual weather circumstance that causes Great Beginnings Administration to make a schedule change different from the general policy above, parents will be individually contacted by phone.
The Great Beginnings Preschool calendar consists of 31 weeks of instruction. The Kindergarten calendar year consists of 450 instructional hours. The individual class schedules accommodate an allowance for snow cancellations. In the event that an unusual number of days is missed, makeup days will be added at the end of the school year. The following snow days are built into the calendar:
