In celebration of the 18th Annual National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month, UMCR will host Recovery Expo 2007 on Saturday, September 29, in partnership with Chester County Drug & Alcohol Services, The Coad Group, Community Care Behavioral Health, Eagleville Hospital, PRO ACT, and A. Michael Blanche.
This Expo has been created to educate and assist those people and their families who wish to learn more about alcohol and other drug disorders in a non-threatening atmosphere. A number of organizations and support groups will attend to assist individuals and families in their search for information and assistance. We believe that the more people learn about addiction and the process of recovery - the less they and their families will have to suffer.
Recovery Expo 2007 is a free event and open to all who are interested in learning more about what
Recovery is and how you can help. Our hope is to eliminate the stigma attached to seeking help for
substance use and other addictive behaviors. Even if you are not affected by this, you may know someone who
is and the information you learn here can help. It can also help prevent you or a loved one from experiencing the suffering
caused by addictive behaviors.
This vital observance lets people know that alcohol and drug use disorders can be managed effectively when the entire commuity supports those who suffer from these treatable diseases.
Project Transition consists of six apartment-based treatment programs which help adults with serious and persistent psychiatric problems, including co-occurring substance abuse and personality disorders. For over 25 years, Project Transition has cultivated trust and hope through relationships, treatment, skill development, wellness training, and supervised independent living. Our unique programs are based within attractive suburban apartment complexes in southeastern Pennsylvania (Bucks, Montgomery, Berks and Philadelphia counties). Program activities and services, which are provided at the apartment complex, are augmented by our 24/7 crisis response team (PT counselors, program directors, and psychiatrists).
Our staff team consists of experienced professionals: Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Addiction Counselors, Program Director, Wellness Specialist, and Counselors. Most of our clinicians have over twenty years of experience.
Project Transition is guided by healing and hope. Even in the presence of painful struggles, we believe that personal recovery is possible.
Communities that Care (CTC) is a prevention-focused and research-proven approach for the reduction of problem behaviors among youth. The CTC communities represented at the Recovery Expo 2007 went through a comprehensive process to target specific risk factors in their communities. With strong community involvement and commitment, CTC has become a sustainable initiative that strengthens youth and is a model for community mobilization and prevention efforts.
